Fast Digg is an experiment allowing fast keyboard control of the latest Digg headlines.
Using only the cursor keys you can scan story headlines and open them in a new window. When a window opens, the new window instantly has focus, so you can scroll through the page without having to click anywhere.
When you close a window (ctrl-w), the focus returns to FastDigg so you can carry on scanning story headlines. This has taken some jumping through javascript hoops to make work, and it still isn't working properly on some browser/OS combos, but we are working on it. Firefox works best for PC, Safari is currently working best for Mac.
FastDigg does not collect personally identifiable data, but we do use cookies to track standard non-personally identifiable web statistics. If this policy changes, so will this page.
FastDigg is in no way related to Digg.com, a site we like very much, and whose public RSS feed we use to generate this experimental site. To get the most out of FastDigg, you should register as a user with Digg.com. This will allow you to save stories that you like in your account at Digg, simply by 'Digging' them. Digg is a trademark of Digg, Inc.
FastDigg uses a patent pending interface developed by Smashing Concepts. It can be used for various applications, where fast scanning of visual items is desirable - news headlines, product catalogues, photos, etc. We offer reasonably priced licensing for the interface and its code.
